All of this material from the past three weeks has been completely new to me. I've never taken a library class before or been involved with any libraries in the past or currently. My main goal for taking this course is to familiarize myself with the library system and learn about how it all works so I can take full advantage of the materials available through the library. I'm transferring to a university within the next year and feel this class will help prepare me for the projects and assisgnments I will have to complete once I start there.
I am the same way about reading reviews. In November I had my first child and read reviews for every product available before making decisions on what to buy. Babiesrus.com has an excellent rating system that allows customers to rate the products they've purchased by giving them a certain number of stars and also an area for comments on what might be the problem with the product or the perks about it. When Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 experiences become common practice at all libraries it will make it the much easier for patrons to choose the material they need quickly and efficiently will the help of other users. It's nice being able to get information from someone in the same situation as you with an open, unbiased opinion.
It's interesting that we're having to do a blog for this class and has pushed me to look into other blogs of people that share my interests.

My First Blog Ever!
I figured this was the first time I had ever blogged, but then looking up the definition of a blog (A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.) I realized probably about 12 years ago I used to blog. This was before the word blog had even come about, but my friends and I used to have journals on livejournal.com. We would post daily, sometimes even more than once a day about the happenings in our lives, even including pictures of what was going on with us during that post. I no longer post on that site, or any site for that matter.
There's only one blog I read on a regular basis, and that's my friend Mikaela's blog (http://wax-intellectual.blogspot.com/). I read her blog because we used to live near each other and hang out but I moved out to Hesperia and never see her anymore. We also both had our sons on the same day, 11/18/11, and it;s a nice way to keep up on how they're doing and read from someone who is in the same boat as me.
I think it's awesome people have blogs on different social networking sites. It's a great way to keep in touch, share information and stay up to date on issues involving your peers. Although information always needs to be checked, I believe blogs are a great way to share and learn information in a library environment. My first week in the online learning environment has been great. I have taken many online classes before, so I believe this one should go smoothly. I enjoy the flexibility online classes give you and the discipline it takes to complete them.
