I figured this was the first time I had ever blogged, but then looking up the definition of a blog (A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.) I realized probably about 12 years ago I used to blog. This was before the word blog had even come about, but my friends and I used to have journals on livejournal.com. We would post daily, sometimes even more than once a day about the happenings in our lives, even including pictures of what was going on with us during that post. I no longer post on that site, or any site for that matter.
There's only one blog I read on a regular basis, and that's my friend Mikaela's blog (http://wax-intellectual.blogspot.com/). I read her blog because we used to live near each other and hang out but I moved out to Hesperia and never see her anymore. We also both had our sons on the same day, 11/18/11, and it;s a nice way to keep up on how they're doing and read from someone who is in the same boat as me.
I think it's awesome people have blogs on different social networking sites. It's a great way to keep in touch, share information and stay up to date on issues involving your peers. Although information always needs to be checked, I believe blogs are a great way to share and learn information in a library environment. My first week in the online learning environment has been great. I have taken many online classes before, so I believe this one should go smoothly. I enjoy the flexibility online classes give you and the discipline it takes to complete them.
Hi Danielle,
ReplyDeleteAhh... good ole Livejournal. It was fun, and crazy to think that we've been blogging and online for so long now. I'm glad you've enjoyed your first week in this class so far. I try to keep it interesting.
Dena
I like your comments about your social networking experience. It can be a great way to keep in touch with people who you can't see on a regular basis. It's reassuring to have special friends especially when you have a special bond. On-line classes are a real life line these days. I need classes to keep current in my profession and it would be impossible without these opportunities. I hope that everyone takes advantage of this class. It can be very valuable in your career in library work. Good luck this term
ReplyDeleteYah! It's my first blog ever too. Strange to say that we broke our blog virginity for a library class of all things. Oh well. It's about as cool as the other time...or is that TMI?
ReplyDeleteHi, this is also my first time blogging.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new baby by the way. This is my first time taking an online class but so far I like it because i also have small children and I wouldn't want to take too much time away from them, this way i can get my courses done while still being at home with them.
